Parenting Book Study

Hi everyone -

A note from Kent:

The Parenting Book Study is on The Blessing of a Skinned Knee by Dr. Wendy Mogel.  We will meet three Tuesdays in a row from 10 – 11:30 a.m. to discuss certain parts of the book.  The discussion guide we will use is great because it isn’t predicated on the fact that you read the book.  I will select certain sections to study and people are welcome to read and come discuss, or come and discuss and listen.  No stress book study is my aim (as parents we all have too much of that anyways).

Thanks so much.

St. James’s Parenting Book Study

by Dr. Wendy Mogel
10:00–11:30 a.m.
Tuesdays, October 11, 18 and 25,
Michaux House

Nationally known clinical psychologist and lecturer Wendy Mogel’s book on raising children in a world where entitlement and competition abound has struck a chord with thousands of readers. In a culture whose values are often at odds with the ones parents wish to uphold and instill, The Blessing of a Skinned Knee points the way to raising self–reliant, optimistic, compassionate and ethical children.

Whether you choose to come and discuss or to listen and reflect, all are encouraged to participate in this provocative look at parenting.

Another session of the Book Study is tentatively planned for Winter 2012 in the evenings following Wednesday night suppers (6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.)

Contact Kent Duffey, Director of Children’s Ministries to register (kduffey@doers.org or 355-1779, ext. 314)
